Hello, I am Liz. My journey into advocacy was not a choice, but a necessity born out of a mother’s love. As a mother of four, including children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), I have navigated the complexities of the Education system firsthand.
The catalyst for Voices for the Vulnerable was a harrowing two-year period where my child suffered extreme bullying, abuse, disabilities, discrimination, and physical violence at school, inflicted not only by peers within the school community but also by the school itself. Despite repeatedly raising these critical issues with the school, local authorities, the police, the Department for Education, MPs and even Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson herself, this mistreatment was allowed to continue and unchecked, and unchallenged.
As a law graduate and aspiring barrister, I am using my legal skills to challenge the status quo. We must end the cycle of school-based violence and abuse that causes lasting physical and emotional harm to our children. Whether it is securing vital EHCP and SEND resources or demanding legislative and meaningful change, I am dedicated to ensuring that “safety at school” is a reality for every child, not just an empty promise. I believe Every child matters!
